2020 ZANCAS LARGAS

2020 Zancas Largas, blend of Garnacha and Tinta del País (50%-50%) with 15 months in bocoy. A wine that is the result of the collaboration between Bergesio Collezione and Sommelier Jorge Carrasco Sáez.

We are Zancas Largas, a wine from Páramo de Corcos, in the area of La Redreja, where Segovia, Burgos and Valladolid converge, in the PDO Valtiendas (province of Segovia) and is certified with the organic label. Vineyards located at 950 meters altitude.

In its tasting it is a wine that in the visual phase leaves us a cherry red color, with a poppy rim. It has a weak tear and good density. It is very correct being clean and bright.

On the nose we find a wine of medium intensity and a very continental profile. It has an elegant fruit, marked by the part of Grenache in the blend, adding some autumnal notes that evoke mushrooms and leaves. In the background there is also a hint of game meat and cedar wood.

On the palate we are talking about a product with a powerful entry, which is fresh and pleasant. It keeps a very good tannic structure, achieving a very tamed and versatile product in terms of gastronomy. The aftertaste is long and extremely pleasant and invites us continuously to «take another sip».

For pairings it works extremely well with mushroom risotto, venison meatballs in sauce or moussaka.

LONG STRIPES: TWO SOMMILLERS, THREE GRAVES AND ONE METAWINE

A new wine project has come to light in the area of the Valtiendas Denomination of Origin after a couple of harvests fermenting in the dream of two friends: Mauro and Jorge.

The first and main instigator, Mauro Bergesio Odetti, is an Italian-Argentine sommelier, with 20 years in Spain, linked to Castilla y León through the Zamora sommelier and a good connoisseur of the wine market.

The second, Jorge Carrasco, is a Valencian from Elche with ten years in the region and six of them working at the José María restaurant. For a few months now, he has been the official sommelier of this emblematic Segovian restaurant, a quarry of so many professionals.

Their party, after all the field and winery work, as they call it, has already begun. Its motto is that of the three Vs: «Wine, Live and Vibrant» and its first niche, online, in which its metavino triumphs.

The first 50 people who registered for the Metacata and requested the tasting pack received a Metavino as a gift.

This first Metacata had 50 unique specimens. There will be no more Metacatas of this vintage.

THE WINES OF CASTILLA Y LEON, star in an afternoon like no other

BERGESIO COLLEZIONE, was present at the Exhibition and Showroom of wines from Castilla y León, held in the city of Polanco, Mexico.

Last October 28, the Hotel Presidente InterContinental witnessed one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Exhibition and Showroom of Wines of Castilla y León, an experience like none other that it brought together (under an unparalleled call and all the security measures). ) to sommeliers, experts, professionals and wine culture enthusiasts.

The session began with a Master Class taught by the renowned sommelier Pilar Meré who, in addition to detailing the elements that make this wine region unique and mentioning the Denominations of Origin that make up it, guided the attendees to taste eight wines from different latitudes. The objective of this tasting was to show the guests the particular characteristics with which Verdejo and Tempranillo (under different names) express their terroirs. Wineries such as Sara Rivera, Castelo de Medina, Veganzones, Bigardo, Bergesio Collezione were present in the showroom, some historical and others more recently created with innovative proposals in the design of bottles and labels.

FRANCOIS CHAVERIAT, trusts in the Rufete grape

French winemaker Francois Chaveriat visited the Sierra de Salamanca to discover the Rufete grape, the soils and climate of the area, in order to learn about the oenological potential of this native variety from his perspective as a producer of great Burgundy wines at Domaine Chantal Lescure. At the initiative of local products Mauro Bergesio, Francois Chaveriat and the expert Eduardo Ganté from Market Ibérica shared their knowledge and international points of view with the area's producers and the staff of the Sierra de Salamanca PDO Regulatory Council for two intense days. Monsieur Chaveriat did not hesitate to affirm that the local variety Rufete is a grape with thin and sensitive skin and, as such, it must be produced with delicacy so that it can express the environment from which it comes.

AMPHORA WINERIES AG: "It was a great dream to create something "big" in Ribera del Duero"

It was a big dream for us to create something “big” in Ribera del Duero. There were already so many producers and our goal was to find something small, special and unique. For a long time we were looking for the perfect grapes, vineyards and local partner. Mauro Bergesio, associate of Amphora Wineries, gathered the appropriate components in 2014, in addition to bringing the best Barrels from his Tonnollerie “Selmer”. We as an experienced winemaking team and our new partner Miguel Calvo, a local viticulturist with his best grapes. Together with Miguel Calvo and his great vineyards, Mauro Bergesio and his famous French barrels «Selmer» and Daniel Caro, defined the vilification process, creating the 3 different wines of “Cuarto de Luna”. In 2014 they vinified the first wine called “Limited Edition” which became a great success. In 2015, the entry-level wine “Baricca” and the superior “Private Collection” cuvée are produced. All of these 3 wines reflect along the way all the great elements of this region and represent an independent style and class. Even in their youth they offer great drinking pleasure, but they can mature and grow perfectly for many years.

PET NAT IN ARGENTINA: "Bergesio Collezione and Casa Tano were the pioneers."

Firm to his convictions and his obsession to break paradigms and innovate in the art of creating spirituous and lively drinks, Mauro Bergesio had the idea and initiative to create a Pét-Nat which is the French abbreviation of Pétillant Naturel, and which means "Naturally Sparkling ".

Based on that idea, Mauro Bergesio invited a group of friends Lucas Richardi and Cristian Santos, owners of Casa Tano, an urban winery located in Villa Seca, in the heart of Godoy Cruz, province of Mendoza, Argentina, to participate in the project.

This merger between Bergesio Collezione and Casa Tano allowed the creation of the first Pét-Nat in Argentina, becoming the pioneers in the development of this natural sparkling drink, which today is booming in the country.

They have created and produced different varieties of Pétillant-Naturel wines, highlighting the “Ancellotta” varietal, a grape with which they have also developed a red wine made from 100% of this varietal.
